Tools and Methods for Scientific Workflow of Numerical Experiments on Large Scale Lattice-Oriented Simulation Models

Abstract

Managing computational experiments and the associated scientific workflow continues to be a challemging problem. Ensuring portability, efficient use of resources, semi i teractive visualisation and monotoring of results, and reproducability are not always entirely compatable goals. Modern scripting and programming langauhges as well as modern tools available on operating systems do help, any yet there are still challenges to be met in managing the model configurations and measurement statistics that arise from large scale numerical and computational science experiments. We describe the particular niche problem we face of managing simulation models for large scae mesh formulated problems. We review some existing tools and technologies and report on the approaches we have explored for our work simulating wealth and trading model simulations.
